The History of Memorial Day
Maeve Kiley Honoring the Fallen for 158 Years General John A. Logan was an American soldier, general, and politician. He served as an officer with the 1st Illinois Volunteer Infantry during the Mexican-American War and, upon his return home to Illinois, was elected to the US House of Representatives in November 1858.
